Frequently Asked Questions

1) You are a small company. How do I know that you can handle my business?

The fact that we are a small company benefits our clients in a number of ways:

  •       Low overhead costs. We are happy with a steady flow of business, we don’t seek to ‘make it rich’ in one or two business deals like some companies need to do to sustain themselves and their employee base.

  •       Client importance. We do not have a huge list of clients that we can afford to lose. Every client matters to us and if we lose even a single deal due to our own failings it can be detrimental to our goals. We strive to provide only the best we have to offer to ensure that those we deal with will return again and again.

  •       Personalized service. Because we are a smaller company we don’t have automated phone service or long wait times and we are available by phone or email 24/7. Our President and founder personally handles all business deals and transactions, and will communicate with you himself instead of you having to climb a ladder to find who is in charge. We are a small but responsible company that is looking to expand and grow. We know that the only way to achieve our goals is to make promises we know we can keep.

2) My company is a large international shipping company that sails to ports all over the globe. How do I know that you don’t only work with a couple ports in America and know nothing about the global shipping business? How can I trust you will provide the services I need in all the ports that we sail to?

Independent Marine Oil Services has celebrated more than 20 years in the marine industry. We would not be as successful as we are today if we only dealt with a few ports in America, or if we did not deliver on what we promise. 4) Your Vision Statement says that you provide “knowledgeable consultancy and expertise” and that you  “seek to change the standard relationship between Operator, Broker, and Supplier by providing services that go above and beyond the expected” How will you do that? What other services do you provide that will benefit my company?

Most companies today only do what benefits them financially; they only do what they get paid to do. We at Independent Marine Oil Services seek to provide services that make our customers’ days just a little bit easier. One of the many small services that we provide that makes a huge difference is our daily market report. Our market report consolidates all the fuel prices from the major ports across the globe into an easy to read and understand interactive format. Another service is our Shipping Plan. When a customer tells us their fuel requirement at a specific date at a specific port we not only provide fuel prices and availability, but we search all ports along the way that provide the same products. We compare prices and give you, our customer, a shipping route based on price and availability. Sometimes going to a different port along the way saves time and money. Our plans have been known to sometimes even save a whole day of sailing, as well as provide the same product at a lower cost. Time saved, less expense, and a friend in the business world are just some of the benefits you enjoy when working with Independent Marine Oil Services.
